Valerie Russell Emmott

Valerie Russell Emmott is the song leader and group holder for Companion Voices Bristol, which she has led since May 2022. The group sings for people nearing the end of life, bringing compassion and presence to their bedsides through song. She is a chanting leader and is involved in both religious and secular singing.

An experienced professional in the fields of equality and diversity and interfaith dialogue, Valerie brings a gentle curiosity and interest in ‘deep listening’ to her work as a Companion.

Valerie is also a forager, maker of herbal remedies, ukulele player, and abstract expressionist painter. She is currently writing the story of her Sephardi Jewish grandmother.
