Music runs throughout the weekend, from a starlit tribute to David Bowie’s Blackstar to a drum circle led by members of the local Afro-Caribbean community as part of About Nine Nights. Elsewhere, biking barber Dries Desmet swaps haircuts for stories as part of his ongoing journey collecting tales from around the world.
Good Grief Weston is produced by Super Culture in collaboration with the University of Bristol and the Weston-super-Mare Community Network as part of the AHRC-funded Coastal Community and Creative Health project. It received additional funding from the North Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board and Institut Ramon Llull.
This festival follows Good Grief Weston 2023 and Good Grief Weston 2024.
Arts Council England describe Good Grief Weston as ‘a best practice example of cross-sector collaboration and the role of creativity in promoting health and wellbeing in our communities’. You can read the formal evaluation of the first festival here.
