Leaning in: Simple Techniques to Soothe your Physical and Emotional Self (Online Workshop)
About the event
This is the second session of the Grief Academy course When Grief Is Complicated.
In this workshop, yoga teacher Morven Hamilton explores simple ways to calm our bodies and minds. Using elements of mindfulness, breathwork and yoga, she teaches techniques to regulate our bodies, soothe our nervous systems and build emotional resilience. We also learn how we can relieve feelings of anxiety or overwhelm through vagal toning exercises. This restorative session offers a toolkit of strategies to help us reach a state of deep relaxation, connect to our bodies and return to the present moment.
In this session, we explore:
- What is the parasympathetic nervous system, and how can grief send our bodies into high alert?
- How can deep relaxation, breathwork and mindful movement help us to lean gently into big emotions while staying connected to the present?
- How can we steady our nervous system when emotions are overwhelming?
Our When Grief Is Complicated course offers immediate access to seven recorded sessions – and accompanying resources – on demand for six months. You can also join us for our launch session on 30 September (or watch back later if you can’t make it).
