Acts of Remembrance: Flowers, Stories and Meaning (Workshop)

Remembrance rituals have long involved flowers, which honour the person who has died, connect us to the natural world and sometimes help us express our emotions without the need for words.

This workshop is a chance to explore personalised ways of using flowers to say goodbye and commemorate people we have loved and lost.

We will explore the language of flowers and share examples of bespoke, foam-free tributes that have personal significance. Each participant will make a small floral keepsake of their own.

You will be working with plant material so please bring an apron if you wish to protect your clothing and gloves if you wish to protect your hands.

About the artist: Lily and the Lighthouse is a sustainable floristry business based on the Fylde Coast. Clare Morris has a particular interest in the ways we use flowers to mark significant moments in our lives, through acts of celebration and remembrance. She initially trained as a speech and language therapist, then as a medical educator. Her most memorable moments have been working with people at the end of their lives and learning about who they are and all they have done.
