Nivaetha D
Nivaetha D is a Psychology graduate from the University of Glasgow, where she completed her award-winning dissertation titled “Navigating Loss Abroad: The Lived Experiences and the Support Needs of Bereaved International Students in UK Universities”. Her research provided a space for bereaved students to share their story and informed policy-level recommendations to strengthen bereavement support at UK universities. Her personal journey of losing her father during university inspired this research and continues to fuel her passion for creating compassionate and culturally sensitive support systems for those navigating grief. Nivaetha’s work was recognised and presented at both the British Psychological Society Scottish Undergraduate Conference and the University of Glasgow Psychology Conference. Beyond research, Nivaetha has supported hundreds of individuals across healthcare, education, and community settings. Guided by the belief that “what mental health needs is more sunlight, more candour, and more unashamed conversation,” she is committed to louder and braver conversations on mental health, alongside more inclusive and accessible mental health care.
