Pillar 1 – Relationships with Others (Including People Who Have Died) [RECORDED COURSE SESSION]
About the event
Please note this is a recorded session available on demand as part of the Pillars of Strength Grief Academy programme.
Our relationships with other people are key to a good and happy life. And so, when someone significant in our life dies, it is not surprising that we feel like the world has turned upside down. Bereavement can put pressure on our relationships with friends and family, who may grieve differently to us or not offer the support we would like. Our relationship with the person who died also changes irrevocably, requiring us to find new ways to maintain our connection with them.
In this session, Julia covers:
- How do our relationships with others – including people who have died – change as we change?
- How might we experience grief if we had a difficult relationship with the person who died?
- What determines how we form relationships and how does this affect how we respond to bereavement?
- How can we maintain our connection with a person who has died whilst also allowing other relationships to grow?
- How does bereavement affect our relationships with other people?
This webinar is part of our Grief Academy course Julia Samuel’s Pillars of Strength. The course will give you immediate access to eight recorded webinars with Julia on demand for six months. We will also share extra course content such as reading lists — and there will be space to chat online and share reflections with other course members.
