Good Grief Collaborates with Creative Youth Network
Earlier in 2020 we collaborated with the amazing Bristol-based charity Creative Youth Network. The charity enables young people in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area, no matter what their background or circumstances, to reach their own potential.
All of the young people they work with are experiencing barriers that prevent them from flourishing. Many are marginalised, unemployed and not in education. Some suffer poor mental health and are in care (or are care leavers) or are asylum seekers or refugees. Some have disabilities, are from low-income households or are an ethnic minority.
Across spring term, 76 young people attended nine Creative Youth Network courses (in animation, textiles, film, theatre, music, dance, fashion, printmaking and puppet-making) exploring the subject of grief. The work they produced is seriously impressive. Please take a look at their showcase here.
As part of our collaboration we also worked with five bereaved young people and students on the University of Bristol’s film degree to make a short film about grief. Our thanks to all the young people who contributed to this inspirational work, which shows just what can happen when young people are invited to share their reflections and reactions on grief and loss.
